Durch seine Querkeilkonstruktion wirkt es sowohl in der vertikalen, als auch in der horizontalen Ebene, so dass beim Anziehen eine Sicherung in jede Richtung gegeben ist. Beim Festziehen weiten sich die Segmente aus und drücken dadurch das Werkstück gegen die Anschläge.
